ULLA the newest pattern by Mamu Design

Ulla has arrived today and is listed in my shop. This pattern has moved to the top of my list! I may even make it for myself, GULP! That will be a first...
This is a great tunic with lots of design choices and will flatter any figure ;o) And again, a pattern to create matching doll clothes is included as well. So dress yourself, your daughter(s) and their dolls, all in one pattern... Really awesome!

And I also have Katrin back in stock. I was amazed how quickly it sold out the last time.

Ottobre sewing for Finn

I have to admit that I do not sew as much for Finn as I do for the girls. He is very particular about what he wants (as he should be) and I do get wrapped up in polka dots and pink a lot.
But with the new Ottobre magazine I was definitely inspired to sew more for my Son and so this past weekend was spend getting this outfit together. Success!!! He loves it :o)

I did not just sew however. I also painted a little. It really is a shame that I do not paint as much anymore as I did in the past. I am still hoping that I will find the love for it again... And the lost confidence in my abilities. Enough about that though ;o)

So here, a great white shark painted on Jersey than sewn to the front of Finn's shirt.

The shirt is the "Otus" T-Shirt. I used my new Campan knit from Hilco.

Than I finished the "Veikka" outdoor pants. I am not super great at top stitching and my machine also decided to skip a stitch here and there. You can definitely tell they are Mama made, with Love!

And here everything together.

This is a really nice issue and I plan on sewing more from it. I do have some of the fabrics that are used in the magazine in the store. Such as the Busilis knit, Campan, and Busilis poplin.
I will get more in February!

Next up I will attempt some shirring when I sew a Shirt for Romy. Shirring works only occaisionally for me... I am still trying to figure out the best way.

Mamu Design KATRIN

The KATRIN pattern, by Maryia, owner of Mamu Design has been a clear winner and I already had to reorder the pattern. So far I have been sewing ELIA shirts for the Girls (I have to blog about the last one I made) and Elia has been my favorite so far.
But I wanted to know, what Katrin was all about. Friday I made 2 Katrins out of knits. It took me from tracing, cutting and sewing two dresses less than 2 hours... Awesome huh? And they fit both my girls really well. Ella is a little chubby and Romy is really spry.

Then today I finished another Katrin in the wrap around version (model #4) out of fancy, dark purple velvet and Stenzo Corduroy. Again, love the fit! And Ella feels like a model. She developed brand new poses of late :o)

So I would say, Katrin is going to be a staple for me. I love having patterns on hand that you can sew up in a jiffy!!

The new Hilco fabric is listed

Phew!! Everything is listed. I had a heck of a time getting decent pictures of the fabric. It is terribly difficult for me to take a picture of pinks and reds. When the sun shines, I take pictures of the fabric outside and have not a hard time at all. But alas, I have not seen the Sun in weeks. Rather depressing actually...

My next shipment from Hilco will arrive in the beginning of February. I can't wait! Seriously it is always so very exiting to see, touch and feel all those yummy bolts of fabric.

OK! Now off to clean a neglected house and satisfy my attention seeking children. They really don't like me clued to the computer ;o)

New HILCO fabric... Simply Delicious!!!

Today I received the first shipment of the 09 Spring/Summer Fabric from Hilco. I have to tell you, everything is really, really deliciously, beautiful. I love the colors of the Campans!
And see that bolt in pink with red polka dots? That's a knit!! No worries, I also have it as a poplin.
The girls already requested clothes out of this and that fabric... Now I am waiting impatiently for warmer weather to arrive. Spring is here in my sewing room :o)

I am going to be very busy taking pictures and getting everything listed. Everything should be up by tomorrow afternoon, at the latest Saturday.

Tuolumne Sew Along

Chris is doing a sew along on her blog. She writes in German and English. I for one will be paying close attention :o) The pattern has scared me and I have not sewn it up myself yet.

Farbenmix BERIT pattern

In late Summer of 2007 I made Ella the BERIT set for the first time (you can see the outfit here) and now it is too small for her and since I have loved the fit and look of this pattern I made her a new pair of pants and matching pullover sweater.
I love how the pants and the vest look together, how easy this outfit is to sew and specially how everything fits.

You don't have to insert the side pieces the way I have done here. I like the look of the wide legs of the pants (almost skirt like) but without the side piece they'll look just has hip :o)

I used Alexia fine whale corduroy by Hilco and for the pullover vest I used chocolate brown Westfalen Nicki and embellished the vest with two little velour iron-ons.

SALE, SALE, SALE

It's January 2009.. Can you believe it?

January is also an exciting time for me because I am waiting on new fabric to arrive from Europe and Japan. In order to keep me from drowning in fabric, I will need to make some room for the new bolts of fabric which should start to arrive here at the end of this month.
For you this means that everything is on sale from 25% to 40% off.

Hop on over to the store and see the great deals on Stenzo, Hilco and Westfalen fabrics. Buttons and our very own Iron-on designs are still on sale as well.
