Introducing Polly and showing off her cool collar!

This is Miss Polly. We adopted her on Easter Sunday from a wonderful organization. Underdogs rescue in Lacey, WA rescues dogs from high kill shelters and we are SO fortunate to have found Polly and she us. She is the sweetest! Super loyal, listens really well and is very fun to play with.

Quite a few months back, I met a wonderful customer who bought ribbon from me to make these
totally cool dog collars, with a European flair :)
Now I finally had the opportunity to own one of her collars and I am so pleased with it!! Toadstools are of course a huge obsession of mine and Polly looks awesome with the bright colors. The collar is incredibly well made and came in a brown doggy bag. Thank you Kyra!

Heads up :)

I am sorry that it has been rather quiet here. I was busy with the children and their many events and I have also developed a strong chest infection on top of that. Needless to say I have had (have) a full plate ;)
But! I wanted to let you all know, that FAR FAR AWAY is being shipped to me right now. I ordered the entire line and hope there is enough for all. Check back soon I will be working as quick as I can to list it in my store as soon as I have received the bolts of fabric goodness :)

Here it is all done: Mamu Design Taja

I told you I was itching to try Taja, the new pattern by Mamu Design. I finally got around to finishing it for Romy last Sunday. I used my last yard of water resistant poplin, from 2 years ago, and lined it with quilters flannel. It's a light weight raincoat/all weather coat. Romy is 4 1/2 and I used size 110/116 and the coat fits perfectly. Romy however is extremely delicate. For Ella I would have used a size up her original size, because the body is quite fitted. Especially if you would line this coat with a thick lining or batting.
Because of the fitted upper body part, the coat looks extremely elegant. She wore it today with a dress underneath and she/I got SO many compliments it was crazy and super flattering :)

The little flower pocket is part of the pattern. You also have the option of standart pockets or for a bag that you can sew separate and then attach to loops that you sew in between the upper body and the lower body parts in the front.

Since Taja has at least three possible versions, I am eager to try some others. I think Taja would also be really cute as a simple button down, summer dress.

Sewing from the New Ottobre Magazine

Like so many of you, I really love this new issue by Ottobre Design. The "Velma" vintage skirt and "Rosalind" T-shirt were pretty much right away on my list to sew.
And I do have the fabric that is featured above as the Velma skirt. It is called Amavel and I have it in the blue that you see and pink. It is gorgeous and perfect for the vintage feel of the Velma skirt.

But I wanted another fantastic fabric to shine. It is really difficult to get the real feel for fabric designs through the computer screen, especially when it is a larger print. So here I am taking the opportunity to show you how this fabric looks worn. The fabric I used for my Velma skirt is Coquetismo and I used Busilis poplin in orange and yellow for the pockets.

It turned out perfect and you can see the large scale print is just so pretty!!

The Rosalind T-shirt was really easy to sew and I found buttons that matched the colors in the fabric of the skirt for the neckline. Now, can it please get warmer and sunnier please? :o)
