Lantern Bloom is so pretty!

Ella's taste in fabric is really changing and I am surprised at her emerging sophistication. Lantern Bloom was perfect for her and this Vicki blouse showcases how lovely the print looks sewn into garments even for children.
I was also surprised how wonderful the Farbenmix Waterlily ribbon went together with Laura's Citron colorway in the Lantern Bloom line.

To go with the blouse I made Tulip Pants from the Ottobre Autumn 2009 issue (available from the woolythread). I was lazy and did not do a zipper fly but took the easy way out and made a mock fly with an elastic waistband, plus I didn't sew belt loops or the back pockets. The fit of the Tulip pants is perfect, definitely give them a try!

Lantern Bloom is on sale now :)

Have a fantastic weekend!!

Oh good. Blood wipes right off.

OK the title to this post is not exactly pretty but that's what I thought when I stuck my "trusty" seam ripper into my hand ;o)
This was my first time sewing with laminated fabric.
Laminated fabric is starting to be much more readily available to us in many fabric designs. Not to be mistaken for oilcloth it is much softer and can be sewn much easier into garments of all sorts.

This jacket here is a Farbenmiz Finja pattern. I have sewn Finja many, many times. This time it only took me 4 hours to complete the jacket, with lining and all. The lining I made out of fleece with a layer of cotton batting in between. Nice and warm! If you have never sewn a jacket before, Finja is definitely perfect for the beginner.

I give laminated fabric the thumbs up! I can see more projects such as a messenger bag or an ultra chic lunch bag, play mats, bibs.... I could go on but you get the idea :)

Spoonflower, I love thee!

I have been thinking and thinking on how best to sell some of my very own designs, since many of you have asked me about it. I just couldn't quite figure out the right way to set it up. In Buntefabrics? On Etzy?
Spoonflower has made it possible now to sell your design right on their website! Lovely and so easy:)
I have made several designs ready for sale. When you go here you will notice the designs with a yellow border. Those are proofed and ready for sale. The other designs I haven't proofed yet or am not 100% happy with just now. Once I am though I will make them ready for sale as well.
Oh, oh I am so excited!!

Ella's Halloween

A few months back we went to the Scottish Festival in Mount Vernon, WA and there of all places, Ella bought herself a paper parasol. That inspired her and she new then (as I said a few months ago!) that she wanted to wear a Kimono for Halloween. I found a Butterick pattern and just finished her Kimono. I hesitate to say it is a costume, because it turned out so well.
I do have to say, I am definitely more at ease with European patterns... I'll trace patterns any day, before I have to deal with this flimsy paper again!!

Ella really got into character and we had a great dry run for the big evening to come!

Romy does not want me to sew for her. She decided a long time ago as well to be Zorro!
That'll be fun LOL!!
Finn is going to be "dirty laundry".. Hmm... Ok!

What are your kid's plans? Or your own ;o)

New Hilco and Stenzo Fall/Winter fabrics

Yesterday both the UPS man and the Fedex man knocked at my door. I tell you it was "almost" better than Christmas to first lay my hands and eyes on the new bolts of fabric. Everything is absolutely stunning and of fantastic quality! But the big deliveries meant lots of work.
Romy spend the day watching Pink Panther, marathon style.. Even I got sick of the theme song!

The poor dog looked at me with really sad eyes because she didn't get her daily walk in the woods and the house is in shambles.. How is it that the house manages to get messy even though
nobody did anything to make it so? My children with their Angel eyes surely had nothing to do with that.. Must be a naughty ghost!

But seriously I am SO not complaining. It really is an exiting time when I have new deliveries!!

So, here comes the fun part for you besides the eye candy! I am going to offer FREE shipping on all orders $75 and over starting tomorrow through the 16th of October (international customers will get a 10% shipping refund). Also Mezzanine will be discounted 25% starting Saturday the 9th through the 16th of October.

Spoonflower swatches

I have received pretty much all of the swatches I ordered and I am SO very pleased with the quality and the service from Spoonflower! I have some favorites that I plan to sell.

My number one favorite design is this one:

Followed by the birds:

I do not like this next design very much. I think it would work better as a paper design or greeting card :) But the idea was a fun one!

I have too many ideas still floating in my noggin and not enough time.. But I will have these listed pretty soon in my shop :)

Fall Season

Romy is wearing a Amelie, Antonia and Laguna Leggings assemble

I was wondering if everybody has a favorite season to sew for?
I think I prefer Fall! I love velour, corduroy and fleeces and maybe it is also the fact that it is now so cozy to sit inside with some rain falling on the roof while the machines are whirring away.
Awesome timing too for my sewing mojo to come back :)

Ella is wearing a Imke shirt and Dortje pants

Romy is happy because she just LOVES Halloween. Today we started to decorate the place a little and she is practicing her "scary" faces.

And if you were wondering... Yes, I will have much more corduroy, fleece (this fleece has one color on one side and another on the other side!) and winter knits coming our way :)
In fact I have been tracking the shipments like a hawk. Last year two big boxes were actually burned at customs because the correct paperwork could not be provided.. Can you imagine?? That was a stressful situation I tell you. However this year, everything will go without a hitch I am sure and you shall soon see what I have ordered for you.

I will also have another sale come up over the weekend, plus I am planing another fabulous giveaway! Stay tuned :)
